Chiang Mai temples and culture
This 5 night package
includes visits to several Wats including Wat Prasing and Wat Prathet Doi
Suthep. We will also visit the local market in Chiang Mai’s Chinatown area
and a hilltribe village at Doi Pui. A visit to a local elephant camp to see
an elephant show and to enjoy rides in the jungle. An evening dinner, Lanna
style with a show of traditional dances and displays at Khum Khantoke.

Day 1
Collection from
airport, welcome drink, familiarization and check in.
Day 2
After breakfast we will
visit the old city's ancient walls and gates followed by a visit to the Chiang Mai cultural centre
(please note the centre is
closed on Mondays)
and then
the local Thai fresh market in the Chinatown area of Chiang Mai alongside
the ping river. In the afternoon we visit some of Chiang Mai's important
temples including Wat Prasing and Wat Chedi Luang then drive out to Darapirom Palace
(please note this palace
is also closed on Mondays), the former home of the
late Princess Dararasmee who died in 1933.



Day 3
Today, after breakfast
we will visit the temple Wat Prathet Doi Suthep on the hill which overlooks
Chiang Mai. This is possibly Chiang Mai’s most famous temple and was built
on the site where a white elephant carrying a relic of the Buddha chose to
stop for a rest. The temple pagoda is built over the relic.
From here we will
change vehicles in order to visit the white Hmong hill tribe village at Doi
Pui which is about 15 km distant and a small section of the road there is
unsuitable for ordinary road vehicles.
After the village we
will return with a visit to Phuping palace on the way (provided none of the
royal family are in residence).





Day 4
Today is a free day
when you may wish to explore the city on your own, take a Thai cooking
course, take in a massage perhaps at one of Chiang Mai’s many wellness spas
or indulge in a little retail therapy! The choice is yours.
Day 5
After breakfast we
will visit an elephant camp to see a display of logging skills, ride an
elephant then an ox cart followed by a gentle ride on the river by bamboo
raft before returning to PJ’s.




In the
evening we will dine at the Khum Khantoke centre for a traditional style
Lanna dinner and displays of both traditional and ceremonial dancing.




Day 6
Today is free time
before transferring to the airport for you onward journey.

breakfast) based on 2 people sharing a double room.
Thai lunch is included
on day 5. Dinner is included at Khum Khantoke.
Drinks are
not included.
